Coach Blowe serves as our primary on-field instructor.
As our primary pitching instructor, Paul is helping our pitchers throw with sound mechanics to help unleash optimal velocity while also protecting our player's arms.
Paul Shuey is now retired after 10 years of major league service. Paul played youth, high school and American Legion baseball in the Raleigh area where he was all state. After high school Paul played for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was an All American as a relief pitcher; one of the first to gain the All American honor almost strictly as a reliever. His record at UNC was 8-1 with 31 saves. Paul was on the USA National team in 1991 and played in the Pan Am games. In 1992, Paul was the second player overall taken in the June amateur draft. Paul was drafted by the Cleveland Indians and after joining the major league team in 1994 became primarily a late inning setup man. Paul pitched for the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles and finished his 10 year major league career with a 0.616 win-loss percentage of 45-28.
During his career Paul was considered one of the hardest throwers in the major leagues. Paul’s fastball was clocked as high as 100 MPH and he consistently pitched in the 96-98 MPH range. Paul’s split finger fastball registered 90-94, one of the hardest in the major leagues.
